Brief History: Country style furniture, though made popular in the mid 1980’s, has been a furniture style of choice since the 17th and 18th centuries. Three distinct types of country style furniture came out of this time period. Primitive country is a rustic style that is used in simple furniture (typically pine). The country style is more polished than the primitive country, taking on more functional designs in oak and pine wood types. The French country style combines the best of primitive and country furniture, while adding wood carvings and design patterns for a more stylish appeal. |
